Divorce & Beyond Support Group @ St. Elizabeth of Hungary

A ten-week support group providing friendship, prayer and dedicated to helping each other deal with the challenges and difficulties faced during the experience of separation and divorce.

The program is designed to help men and women find encouragement as they explore and experience the emotions and issues associated with divorce and moving forward.

Upcoming Bereavement Support Program

Offered at St. Mary, East Islip

Support Groups are opened to anyone who has suffered a loss at least three months prior to the start of the group. Thee is no cost but a commitment to attend each meeting throughout the program is required. Groups are offered in a closed and confidential setting with highly trained facilitators and limited to 15 people.

Eight Week Group beginning Tuesday evenings at 7pm
March 10th through April 28th 2020

Bertha Peralta-Rodriguez ha sido catequista y ministro de jóvenes por más de 20 años. Ella es una devota esposa como también una madre de una “diva” de 11 años. Bertha conduce presentaciones, talleres y debates con el propósito de fomentar a otros hacia un mejor entendimiento que somos maravillosamente creados por Dios. Ella recibió su Maestría en Consejería de la Universidad de Fordham, y actualmente trabaja en Hunter College.
La Sra. [vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]This Mother/Daughter tea will introduce the Catholic Church’s teaching regarding Human Dignity and how we respond to God’s call to live a life of virtue. The Mother and Daughter will look at how they are “Wonderfully Made” creation of God. They will begin to dialogue between Mother and Daughter regarding how they are to live a life that exemplifies this out in the world.

We welcome Mothers (or a mother figure*) and their daughter (5th grade through 8th grade)
*Anyone who serves as a mother figure, for example

She received her Masters in Counseling from Fordham University, and currently works at Hunter College.
Mrs. Peralta-Rodriguez is a catechist for the Confirmation program at Our Lady Queen of Angels in Sunnyside, Queens and is also an instructor for the School of Missionary Disciples for the Diocese of Rockville Centre.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

  • Self-Awareness of Dying and Death Attitudes and the Catholic Faith Experience
  • Overview of The Bereavement Process and Types of Grief
  • Viewing Grief from A Life-Span Perspectiye (adolescence through old-age)
  • Communication Skills Needed for Facilitators (understanding the Feedback Loop)
  • Establishing a Parish-Based Bereavement Group (closed group model)
  • Utilizing Journaling, Reflections, Prayer, and Guided Imagery Within the Group Process
  • Addressing Grief Within the Family Structure (children, adolescents, parents, etc.)
  • Enhancing Self-Identity and Overcoming Loss (goals-based model of help)
  • Practicum: Setting Up Your Parish Bereavement Support Group

facilitators to deliver bereavement support groups
