Advanced Course: Celebrating Easter with the Resurrection Narratives

In this course students will enter into a brief analysis of the divergent accounts of the experience of the resurrection portrayed by the Synoptic Gospels as well as the Gospel of St. John. Jewish and Pagan understandings of resurrection and the uniqueness of the resurrection of Jesus will be considered. The soteriological significance of the resurrection of Christ and the implications of the risen life of Christ for the life of the Church today will be considered. All participants should bring a Bible to class each day and be prepared to read from it at home.

Course dates: April 24, April 25, May 1, May 2, May 8. Classes will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Fee: Parishioners of St. John the Evangelist and any interested adults not seeking certification do not have fees. Non-parishioners who wish to secure advanced diocesan credit are asked to remit a $25 fee to cover our administrative costs.
