Bereavement Counseling and Support Service

This mental health service is dedicated to assisting the newly bereaved through private counseling, support groups and workshops. Educational opportunities are also offered to enhance a greater understanding of bereavement through graduate courses, training programs for caregivers  and publication of literature.

The director of this center is Luciano Sabatini PhD, a counseling psychologist who specializes in bereavement. He has been facilitating support groups for the bereaved on Long Island for over 30 years and is currently the bereavement coordinator at St. Bernard parish in Levittown. The program at St. Bernard offers general bereavement groups for those with a recent loss, a group for survivors of suicide loss and a bereaved parents group. He is also an adjunct professor at Hofstra University where he teaches a course, “Counseling for death, Dying and Bereavement” to graduate students in mental health programs.

Dr. Sabatini has published two books, “Bereavement Counseling in the School Setting” and “Lessons Learned on Grief”
