Boston College Leadership Certificate for Latinos

Taught in Spanish, a new certificate program from the School of Theology and Ministry and BC School of Social Work combines faith formation, spirituality, and community engagement

The School of Theology and Ministry, in collaboration with the Boston College School of Social Work, has launched a new program to form leaders to respond to the needs of Hispanic Catholics in the United States. Rooted in the Ignatian tradition, the Leadership Certificate is taught completely in Spanish and is designed to educate Latinos interested in serving as leaders in their parishes, training them not only in issues of theology and spirituality, but also on how to address social issues arising in their communities.

Endow – Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women

Endow is an educational apostolate that writes study guides for small groups of women that makes the rich wisdom of the Church accessible to the “woman in the pew.”

By offering background information, definitions of theological terms, historical context, quotes from Scripture and the Catechism, insights from scholars and saints, and thought-provoking questions for group discussion, an Endow study makes some of the most profound documents of the Church and writings of her saints accessible to teens and women alike.

Endow trains women to become group facilitators and provides resources for them to invite women in their community to join them for an Endow study. Groups usually consist of 8-12 women who meet for 8-10 weeks to grow in knowledge of and love for their Catholic faith together.

STEP at the University of Notre Dame

By connecting the Catholic intellectual life to the life of the Church, the Institute forms faithful Catholic leaders for service to the Church and the world. We offer online courses grounded in beauty and richness of Catholic theology and faith.

Theology was the fulfillment of this desire to know which arose within the very experience of faith. The understanding that it sought was a search after the truth that had been encountered in the one who said “I am the Truth” (Jn 14:6). Faith in Jesus Christ gave rise to this desire to know him more deeply and to find in him the true meaning of life and the world.

Online courses range between four and eight weeks long, with most being six weeks in length. Students read texts and watch video lessons before posting weekly assignments, sharing reflections in discussion forums and participating in real-time online discussions with classmates.
