The Gospel of Mark

October 25 – November 21

Study the Gospel for the coming year’s liturgy! In the first week, participants gain an overview of the Gospel’s features, learn about its setting, the Evangelist who wrote it, and the community for which it was written. In the second week, a video featuring Fr. Michael Himes will focus on key insights. No previous experience in Scripture study is necessary.

Effective Preaching: Preaching to Children

October 25 – November 21

This course is designed to help participants engage children with the heart of faith.  It provides the tools to effectively craft and deliver a meaningful and understandable homily for younger hearers.  Ideal for leaders of Liturgy of the Word for Children and for others who work with children.  This workshop is based on the Boston College web site Touchstones for Preaching/ Special Touchstone – Preaching to Children.


  MARY, THE MOTHER OF JESUS

November 26 – December 23 (4 weeks)

This course explores three key events in the life of Mary, the Mother of Jesus: the Annunciation, the Visitation, and, the proclamation of the Canticle of Mary.  Delve more deeply into the Biblical sources, reflect on each event, and take the opportunity to live out the Gospel message.


A PEOPLE OF HOPE: THE LINEAGE OF JESUS

November 26 – December 19 (3 weeks)

Inspired by the Jesse Tree, this course unpacks the Advent theme of hope as lived out by the ancestors of Jesus.  Take a fresh look at key figures in Matthew’s genealogy and others in the Christian story of Salvation, and reflect on how we might embrace and live out Christian hope today.
