The Pope and the Athletes with Disabilities
Pope Francis reminded a group of athletes who had disabilities that they provided a message of encouragement, an invitation for us to break down barriers to inclusion. He emphasized that sports provide an opportunity for us to appreciate our differences and recognize one another as brothers and sisters. God the Father, “…loves us as we are,” the Pope said. He helps us grow into what we are to become. His message to the athletes is a message for us, too. Inclusion of those with disabilities helps us to become who we are meant to be as children of one Father!
