Very Special People
by DRVC Website

The first weekend of May heralded several spring time events. The Dinner Dance for Adults with Special Needs on May 2nd was enjoyed by 150 guests. Most came from group residences and attended with their staff. Twelve members of the Campus Ministry at Adelphi and Hofstra served baked ziti and meatball dinners and then helped the guests dance the night away. Marianne Sheridan photographed the fun. Volunteers at St. Frances de Chantal, including long time special needs ministry leader, Judith Brady, did a great job of organizing, setting up, and “dishing out”. I’m not sure who had a better time, the guests or the volunteers! Very special people, one and all! Sunday afternoon my family and I attended the Friars Golden Kids Carnival at St. Anthony’s High School. My kids had a great time tossing balloons, getting their faces painted, having pictures taken, and eating with their High School Buddies. If you missed this carnival, the event will be held again next year on May 30th from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at St. Anthony’s. If was a great afternoon, and again, looking around the crowded Student Center, it was difficult to tell who was having a better time, the kids or their Buddies. Kudos to you, Brother Damian, Laura Giannuzzi, and the wonderful students of St. Anthony’s. Very special people, one and all!
