Respite for Caregivers. Recreation for Children.

Several parishes throughout the diocese have recreation programs for children with special needs. These provide supervised socialization for their guests and give parents a chance to catch their breath. Some programs, like those at St. Anne in Garden City and St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa, offer respite to parishioners. Others are open to all children with special needs. Children must be registered beforehand so that “buddies” and snacks are available. Find out about the respite evenings at St. Catherine of Sienna in Franklin Square by contacting Maureen at 516-352-0146 ex. 412. Four of these are presently scheduled. Reservations for the monthly respite evenings at St. Philip Neri in Northport can be made through Terry at 631 261-2485 ex 100. Learning to play together goes hand in hand with learning to pray together! We all need a little fun in our lives!
